MEET THE TEAM
AFTERMATH
To be honest, as students provided with limited amount of time and money to spend, visiting a remarkable destination such as Intramuros would be a bit pathetic. You get to experience a long walk with umbrellas to protect yourself from the heat of scorching sun in the afternoon, because unfortunately you can’t afford to rent a calesa and a tourist guide to help you get to know more about the oldest district of Manila.
But for tourists or people who are really planning to pay a visit and want to know the history behind these walls, you wouldn’t be disappointed.
The Walled City will surprise you with such great stories happened in the past. These stories will prove you that Intramuros is truly authentic and played a big role in Philippine history .The bricks and stones of these walls were witnesses of the bizarre happenings not just during the colonial period then, but also the development of the area up to now. You may also experience the surreal feeling of wondering how these walls were built, the way people lived then, and the feeling of Rizal while having his last walk to Bagumbayan before he was executed.
These occurred to us despite of the exhausting tour in Intramuros. Most of you especially Filipinos , might be able to appreciate the past just as we students did when we had this visit. We somehow felt patriotic for our country, proud even, that there is still a preserved part of history in the Philippines.
We sincerely hope that the Walled City will remain preserved as the years go by, along with its incredible and historical stories that are deserved to be heard and known by the next generations of Filipinos.
